Contest promotion eligibility: where we draw the line

You receive a written decision and the reason behind it, based on the contest rules and the project details you share. We explain whether a change could make a new review possible.

In shortWe review contest rules and project details, then explain in writing whether we can support the promotion. We decline projects where rules forbid outside promotion, political campaigns, lotteries and gambling, entries involving minors without parental consent, and requests for automated or purchased votes. The free contest analysis gives you a decision before any campaign work begins.

What will the contest review show you?

Our review gives you a clear accept-or-decline decision, with the reason connected to the contest text or project conditions. If the project is suitable, we identify promotion routes to consider. If it is not, we explain the specific issue and whether a change could justify reviewing it again.

The Evidence Pack keeps the review useful and easy to act on. Depending on the material you provide, it can include:

  • The rule passage or project detail that shaped our decision.
  • Questions to send to the contest organizer if a rule is unclear.
  • Any consent information needed before work involving a minor can be considered.
  • A note on which promotion options remain within the contest rules.

For work we accept, the contest campaign process sets out how agreed activity is documented. We use a Proof Log to record the work we deliver; it does not stand in for the organizer’s decision about an entry. If a request falls outside our scope, we say so before campaign work starts.

Which contest conditions put a project outside our scope?

We decline when the promotion being requested conflicts with the rules or requires methods we do not use. These checks apply to a local vote, an industry award, and a large public contest alike.

  • Outside promotion is forbidden: If the rules prohibit entrants from promoting their own entries beyond the organizer’s channels, we will not plan around that restriction. If the wording is unclear, ask the organizer for a written answer before proceeding.
  • Political campaigns: We do not take promotion tied to a candidate, party, or ballot campaign.
  • Lotteries and gambling: A project involving gambling or a prize determined by chance is outside our contest-promotion work.
  • Minors without parental consent: We need parental or guardian consent before considering promotion involving a minor, and platform age and privacy rules still apply. See our guidance on youth contests.
  • Automated or purchased votes: We do not sell votes, followers, or engagement, and we do not use bots, scripts, fake accounts, or click farms. Our no-bots policy explains the boundary.

A request that does not fit one of these categories may still need a rules review. Our contest marketing overview describes the promotion work we do consider.

What should you send if the project needs another look?

A useful review starts with the material that defines what entrants may do. Send the contest page, the full rules, your entry link, the deadline, and a short description of the promotion you have in mind. If the contest involves a minor, include confirmation that a parent or guardian has agreed to the entry and proposed promotion.

When a rule is open to interpretation, we can help you frame a concise question for the organizer. A written clarification may change what promotion is possible; informal examples of what other entrants are doing are not a substitute for that answer. Our rules and risk check is a practical place to start, and contest rules and risk consulting can help with more involved cases.

The organizer controls whether an entry meets contest requirements, and an advertising platform can reject or restrict an ad under its own rules. We cannot override either decision or promise a contest outcome.

Send the contest link and rules for a free contest analysis. We will review the material, tell you where the project stands, and identify a sensible next step.

Frequently asked questions

What should I send for a contest eligibility review?

Send the contest page and complete rules, your entry link, the deadline, and a short description of the promotion you want. If a minor is involved, include confirmation of parental or guardian consent. These details help us explain our decision against the actual conditions.

What happens if the contest rules do not clearly allow outside promotion?

We point to the wording that needs clarification and can help you prepare a direct question for the organizer. If the organizer replies in writing, send us that response so we can assess whether it changes the available options.

Can you review a contest involving a child?

Yes, if a parent or guardian has consented to the entry and proposed promotion, and the relevant platform rules can be followed. Without that consent, we decline the project. We also need to know which images or other materials are approved for use.

Will you accept a request for purchased or automated votes?

No. We do not provide purchased votes or automated voting, and we do not use bots, scripts, fake accounts, or click farms. If the contest rules allow honest promotion, we can review whether options such as paid advertising or consent-based outreach fit.

Can you guarantee that the organizer will accept my entry?

No. The organizer decides whether an entry follows contest rules, and an advertising platform may reject or restrict an ad under its own rules. We can explain the material we reviewed and deliver only the agreed promotion work; we cannot override those decisions.
